PATCH TESTING GUIDELINES

Patch testing your clients before their brow or lash appointment is non-negotiable.

Not only can patch testing save your clients from any nasty reactions or irritations, but it also saves you from any serious insurance claims and legal issues.

You should perform a patch test 48 hours before treatment. Instruct your client to inform you straight away if a reaction or sensitivity occurs. If an extreme reaction occurs, advise your client to seek immediate medical advice and do not perform the treatment.

Patch test all new clients and existing clients every 6 months, or if there is a change in their medication. Do not perform patch tests or treatments on pregnant or breastfeeding women. You can read why here

HOW TO PATCH TEST LASH & BROW BOMB

We recommend performing the patch test on the inside of the client’s elbow, NOT behind the ear. If a serious reaction occurs, having it near the face could entail worse consequences.

1. Clean the area of skin.

2. On the inside of a client’s elbow, place a dab of the following products:

- Step 1 Lifting Cream

- Step 2 Neutralising Lotion

- Step 3 Moisturising Serum

- Bonder

3. Mix a small amount of Cream Tint (or Hybrid Stain) and Developer and then on the client’s other arm, clean the skin and dab a small amount of the developed tint.

4. Advise your client not to wash the area for 48 hours.

HOW TO PATCH TEST LASH EXTENSIONS

1. Clean the eye area.

2. Using the Lash Adhesive, stick 5-8 Lash Extensions to the outer corner of the eye.

3. Advise the client not to wash the area for 48 hours.

Write your client's patch test results on their Consultation Card and store it in a safe, protected space. Please note that while patch testing can help avoid reactions, it is NOT 100% reliable; even if a patch test is clear, a reaction can still occur during treatment.
