The post-Christmas downtime is upon us...🫠

2025 outs: worrying about trying to be fully booked every month.

2025 ins: accepting that running a business will come with ups and downs
and it’s all a part of the journey!

The Christmas rush is over and now you can finally breeeathe.

You've completed back-to-back appointments, late nights and early mornings, and all without a day off in like… forever.

But now that party season is done and dusted, business may be slow. Your days may be quiet. You may be questioning your motive, your purpose, and perhaps a couple of life choices 🙃

However, the January quiet period doesn’t have to be depressing, and there are things you can do to help combat the lack of business and encourage more clients through your door...

RETAIL RETAIL RETAIL 🛍️

My girl, listen. Retail is one of the best things you can do for your business. Fact.

Make 2025 your year of retail and stock up on products to sell to your clients. This could be aftercare products like Castor Oil or Lash & Brow Toxx, or cosmetic products like Extreme Mascara or Duo Lash & Brow Boost. Retailing is an easy way to boost your profit and make your clients (and bank) happy 😁

CANCELLATION POLICY ❌

What’s more irritating than a no-show? More infuriating than a last minute cancellation? More inconvenient than a client who swans in 20 minutes late with a caramel latte in one hand… and nothing for you?! 😐

Introduce a policy whereby clients are charged a percentage of their treatment price if they cancel or don't show up; you could even incur a late penalty fee. Asking for a 50% deposit at the time of booking gives you more security and ensures you won't be left completely out of pocket if a client cancels at the last minute.

REACH OUT TO EXISTING CLIENTS 👋

Whether you text, DM or call, making the first move is an amazing way to fill your schedule. Often clients forget to rebook treatments or can't find the time, so making it easy for them will be beneficial for both of you! Don't worry about being annoying, most of the time your client will appreciate you checking up on them and providing a more personal experience.

MONEY OFF 💸

Because who doesn’t love a bargain? 😍

Running promotions all throughout January can encourage more bookings. Make it an offer that is too good to miss, like £10 off or 20% off when booking two treatments at once. Don’t think of it as you missing out on money, because you will most likely encourage more clientele than you would have without the offer, so your profit will be bigger regardless!

Emphasise that it is a limited-time offer to create a sense of urgency. You could market it as “treating yourself” or, "starting 2025 off looking and feeling your best!”

ENJOY IT! 💅

A quiet period won’t last forever, so why not enjoy it while you can?

Use this time to focus on your business marketing plan, research new treatments or products to add to your salon services, or create and schedule content for your social media.

However, don't feel pressured to make it productive if you're not feeling it. Rest is important to avoid burnout and, remember, business will pick up again before you know it. Why not take some “me” time and focus on what you love doing outside of work? You could do something you've always dreamed of doing, like a yoga retreat, or studying something you're interested in...

...or maybe the post-Christmas burnout is too real. Maybe you need a REAL break, whether that be jetting off somewhere hot (we've heard Thailand is nice this time of year 👀), or a month-long bed rot (sometimes it be like dat).

Taking the whole month of January off is the ultimate self-care act, and guess what? Not all jobs allow for it, but you can do it, because you're a brow & lash artist 😏
